Interesting Springtime Opportunities

April 16, 2023

As the new green sprouts of spring poke their heads out from their winter sleep, we, too, are awakening from a winter of waiting for the new year's challenges for us. We continue to make business headshots, real estate photos, child, family, and child portraits. I have also added documentation photos of the damage from a recent tornado that tore a wide gash thirty miles long through our state's most populated area. I waited a week to fly my drone to take these photos; I didn't want to be in the way. After the first week, everyone was accustomed to seeing several drones at any time, so I launched my project; if asked, I was a video documentarian. Nobody cared about me, as there was plenty of debris lying around and plenty to do. All the usual images were there; clothes hanging untouched in the closet with the front of the house torn off, giant trees thrown about like toothpicks. These images may have no commercial appeal; however, I could make them, and so I do. I am more comfortable flying drones in busy retail and dense residential areas. The path of the monster EF-3 tornado missed my studio by a couple of blocks but did not spare my son's house. Luckily, he sustained only minor damage, whereas his local grocery store down the street was demolished. We were all very thankful for a very low death toll; it could have been much worse. Hopefully, history will take notice.
